Spring Football is here!!!

Jr Ticats head into competitive play this Spring

Updated Wednesday April 4, 2018 by Hamilton Football Association.

Snow is gone and now it’s soon time to hit the fields for some football!  It’s been a long off season and we are very excited to get started!

Here are some vital information to help you prepare for the Spring Season:

HFA works very hard to keep our program affordable to all families in our community. Our registration fees include the use of the primary football equipment a player requires. Players are issued equipment prior to the season commencement, and must return that equipment at the end of the season.

Each player will be issued equipment worth well over several hundred dollars.

1. Equipment Fitting:
Address:  605 Hwy 8, Stoney Creek. (Between Millen and Dewitt Roads) It is located in the former Stoney Creek Alliance Church.  Please enter via the front main entrance (facing Hwy 8) and register at the check-in table.

All divisions:

  • Thursday April 5th
    • 6:30-8:30pm
  • Saturday April 7th
    • 10am-12pm

Each Player is Issued:

  1. A helmet
  2. Shoulder Pads
  3. A Practice Jersey (if applicable, may be issued at a later date)
  4. A Game Jersey YOU KEEP (distributed at a later date)

Families Must Provide:

  1. a proper mouthpiece
  2. appropriate footwear (molded football spikes)
  3. a pair of practice/game pants & practice jersey
  4. a filled water bottle for every practice and game

These items may be obtained from T. Litzens (433 Ofield Rd S, Dundas, ON L9H 5E2) at affordable prices at the beginning of the season. Mention HFA to the staff.

Proper care of your equipment is important for both safety and to assure that your equipment is ready every time you play. It is your responsibility to periodically inspect all of your equipment before you put it on and tell your coach if it is not in perfect working order. Please inspect your helmet for missing or loose pieces and screws, and your shoulder pads for loose straps and clips. Do not throw, drop or drag your helmet/shoulder pads! Equipment must be cleaned and returned at the end of the football season at the pre-arranged equipment return dates. Players not returning their equipment WILL be assessed a replacement fee.

2) National Registry Access Code:
Please make sure you come prepared with your Access Code #.
This is the number attained through the National Registry (mandatory by all personnel per Football Canada/Ontario Football Alliance).  Please find more details and registration info here: http://ontariofootball.ca/news.php?news_id=1607847

All players must have their National Registry Access Code prior to the first practice.  It is recommended that you obtain this number and provide it to the HFA volunteers at check-in during equipment pick up.  This is a mandatory element required by Football Canada/Ontario Football Alliance.

3) First Practice

  • Joint first practice will be on April 16th
  • Full gear required- practice pants, practice jersey, shoulder pads, helmet AND mouthguard!
  • Brebeuf High School (200 Acadia Dr)
  • 6:30-8:30pm

We will have practices on Monday and Wednesday every week.

Teams (where needed) will be split between Brebeuf and Bishop Ryan HS (in the subsequent weeks).  You will be advised prior to the split.

4)  Practice Jersey

HFA will have on hand some practice jerseys for sale during equipment pick up. Limited number and sizes available.

5) Contact information

Please update your contact information as needed to keep up-to-date on HFA communication.  Information can also be found on our website: jrticats.com and on our social media outlets (Facebook: HFA Ticats, Twitter: @HFATicats, Instagram: @HFAJrTicats)

We look forward to a fun and exciting spring season! #GoTicatsGo
